[life & practice update] making roots in Oregon 🌿

Dear all,

I’m excited to share that – after years of living in Colorado and a season of travel/nomadism – I have moved into a new home in Oregon.

My nervous system is loving the moisture, the greenery, and the ancient trees of the Pacific Northwest. 🌿

Nature is a huge part of how I resource myself and take care of my body/mind/spirit. I can’t wait to share more about the medicine of the nature here as I settle into my new home & build community here.

As a logistical note - I will continue to be available for online therapy sessions for adults & couples in Colorado, and I’ll share an update once I’m available for therapy sessions in Oregon (online & possibly in-person in the near future). It is an honor to support folks in my practice. πŸ’—

Moving forward, you can expect to hear from me every other week via this newsletter, with reflections on how to understand your brain & take care of your nervous system.

You can also tune into my podcast, Nervous System Care & Healing, if you prefer auditory processing & deep-dives into topics like neurodiversity, healing mind/body/spirit, and navigating systems of oppression.

Whether you’re new to this newsletter or have been reading along for a while: I’m so grateful that you’re here. Keep being you. πŸ’–

With care,

EPISODE 26

🧠 The Link Between Trauma, Neurodivergence, & Capitalism

Join me & Lila Low-Beinart (LPC, LMHC) as we explore these questions: How do you know if you have trauma, or if you’re neurodivergent, or both? Why does it seem like more & more people are receiving autism & ADHD diagnoses these days? And what does capitalism have to do with all this?

EPISODE 27

πŸ«€ Self-Regulation & Co-Regulation: Our Nervous Systems Need Both

Nervous system regulation is the capacity to shift from overwhelmed & disconnected, to grounded & connected. In this episode, I explain the differences between self-regulation & co-regulation - and how we can develop these skills across time.

P.S. Know someone who needs to hear this? Forward it along. New readers can subscribe here.

P.P.S. If you’re interested in working together, I’d love to support you.

🌻 For folks who are overwhelmed & burnt out, but too busy for weekly therapy, I offer Nervous System Healing Intensives β€” three 90-minute sessions, using brain-body modalities (Brainspotting, IFS, EMDR) that go deeper than talk therapy & help you feel better, sooner.

Intensives are a type of short-term, accelerated therapy β€” for folks who prefer a hyper-focused approach to healing; who need longer than 50-min sessions to warm up & process deeply.

πŸ‘‰πŸ½ If you want to get an Intensive on the books, click here to book an intro call.

I help highly sensitive, neurodivergent adults heal their nervous systems & connect with their authentic selves.

Last weekend, I attended a Brainspotting & Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy training in Portland, Oregon. I gathered with a group of lovely therapists to explore the integration of low-dose ketamine (a consciousness-shifting medicine) with Brainspotting (a brain-body therapy). The training - led by my dear friend Mari at Awaken Consulting & hosted at the beautiful sanctuary of Empathy Grove - covered important topics like: safety considerations (because ketamine-assisted psychotherapy - KAP -...

Lately, my favorite way to take care of my nervous system has been through daily walks in nature. My nervous system enjoys the visual stimulation (soft lighting and vibrant colors), as well as the auditory input (birds chirping, the creek flowing, and a deep sense of quiet). On a psychological level, being in nature helps me slow down - which I welcome, as my mind can spin pretty quickly sometimes. 🌊 Sitting next to a creek, my body naturally releases tension, and starts to breathe more...

I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers a month ago. It was every color of the rainbow - so vibrant and bright, I literally squealed with delight when I saw it. πŸ’ Every week since then, I’ve watched the flowers transform - from a state of blooming & expansion, to eventual shrinking & contraction as they completed their cycle of life on earth. The change of color, texture, and size of the flowers was fascinating to observe. Every few days, I would enjoy trimming the flowers, adjusting the...
